The row over super-hospitality box at Eden Gardens is about to be resolved. After an hour-long meeting among the officials of IPL, KKR, CAB and different departments of the state government, it was decided that all parties concerned will jointly act in taking corrective measures.
Chief secretary Ashok Mohan Chakrabarty said that the state PWD department has inspected the construction and suggested the measures required to be taken.
“Some initial work has already started. From Friday, the PWD engineers, jointly with IPL officials, will supervise the work. We expect the work to be completed much before the next IPL match at Eden on April 1. On March 30, we all do a review again,” Chakrabarty said.
He further said that the fire services department list out measures required to be taken on Friday. “The department will then review the situation and only after that we will give no-objection certificate for super-hospitality box. There is no further dispute between IPL and fire services department on this issue,” the chief secretary said.
However, he admitted that during the first two IPL matches, the super-hospitality box was used without any no-objection certificate. In fact, the PWD clearance was available for those two matches against an undertaking that in case of any accident the responsibility will not be on the PWD department.
