Former Sri Lanka and West Indies coach John Dyson has the job of the New Zealand coach in his sights. Dyson has previously coached Sri Lanka and the West Indies, but was axed as coach of the Caribbean side recently.

"If the opportunity arose and they considered me a suitable candidate, I'd definitely be interested," Dyson said.

Dyson, who coached the West Indies in their 0-0 test series draw in New Zealand last summer, was sacked shortly afterwards, despite having an improved three-win, five-loss, seven-draw test record under his stewardship. He had a decent record with Sri Lanka before being replaced by fellow Australian Tom Moody, the New Zealand Herald reports.

"I feel the experience I have gained at Sri Lanka and the West Indies would hold me in good stead, but we will just have to wait and see if anything comes of it," Dyson added.

Moody and fellow Australian Greg Shipperd, both touted as possible contenders, have counted themselves out of the New Zealand job.
