After standing tall when it mattered most, Rahul Dravid reserved special praise for Yuvraj Singh. The left-hander hit a responsible 63 as India avoided a repeat of a disaster (76 all out) that happened against South Africa at the very same venue last year.
“I had the South African game inmy mind where we were bowled out in 20 overs and the wicket really became good later on,” said Yuvraj. With a positive intent and a senior pro in tow, Yuvi stitched a crucial 125-run partnership. “I thought that really helped and set the platform for me and Mahi,” Dravid said.
It was also a day when Dravid crossed 11,000 runs mark. He credited his achievement to his consistency. “I’ve been around the scene for a long time. It’s nice as there are some great people on that list, people I have truly admired and watched,” said the “The Wall”. When asked to rate this particular knock, “I always rate in context of the game. In the end if you go on to win, only then you realise the value,” Dravid said while referring to his famous knocks in Adelaide and Kolkata.
