The Chennai Super Kings bowling attack seemed to have teeth but it wasn’t till the arrival of New South Wales’ left-arm medium pacer Doug Bollinger that the side gnawed into batting line-ups of the opponents.

Figures of 4 for 13 is something only the best in the business can hope to achieve on a lively pitch under overcast condition on the first day of a Test. Bollinger managed it on a T20 wicket rolled out at the DY Patil Stadium.

Playing in his maiden IPL tourney, Bollinger has made a big difference for Chennai Super Kings and has played a key role in his team making it to the finals. He has used his pace, guile to outwit the best batsmen.

On Thursday, Bollinger, accounted for Adam Gilchrist and TS Suman among his four wickets. Chennai made a modest 142 in 20 overs, before their bowlers did the impossible by restricting Deccan Chargers to 104 with Bollinger doing the star turn and picking up the Man-of-the-Match award.

“It’s pretty exciting. But 4 for 13 is a great achievement for me. Hopefully, I can keep getting that. I think it just comes down to enjoying my cricket. I really enjoyed my time,” Bollinger said on Thursday.

“It was a good wicket. It had a bit of bounce in it. It was really good early. I think when we went out and bowled, the wicket was a bit slow and it turned. For us, with the fielding and bowling, it was all about attitude. We just went out there with nothing to lose and just enjoyed it.”

On how the approach should be while bowling on the Indian wickets, Bollinger said, “I think it’s just adapting to the wicket. Obviously, with Chennai it’s got a bit of pace and bounce so you can use that. But if it’s like Delhi, you just got to bowl a bit straighter and hit the wicket a bit harder. I think that’s the great thing about wickets all around the world. You know what I mean? It was different when we played in New Zealand. Every wicket was different. And here it’s been as well. It’s just…every player has to adapt their game and to the conditions.”

The left-arm pacer feels Chennai Super Kings have a good chance against Mumbai Indians in the finals. “I think we have a good chance, the way we played today. I think we have to just go out there and back our ability one hundred per cent and just go out there with nothing to lose. They have got a great team…but I am sure we can match it, like we have before. So we are going to go out there and give it everything.”
