NEW YORK: Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 36 points as the Dallas Mavericks rallied to win their 13th consecutive game with a 90-85 victory over hosts San Antonio on Friday.
Nowitzki, who also had eight rebounds, brought the Mavs back from an 11-point halftime deficit with nine points in the final 10 minutes. His lay-up with 2:27 remaining tied the score at 82 apiece and the Mavericks never trailed again after being dominated in the first two quarters. Josh Howard added 18 points and a team-high 12 rebounds for Dallas, while Manu Ginobili led San Antonio with 25 points.
"We know we can win pretty much anywhere on the road," Nowitzki said. "We have the kind of depth and athleticism and defense that we feel like we can get in any building and look good and get a win." Fabricio Oberto's 14 points on 7-for-7 shooting and Tim Duncan's 13 points powered San Antonio in the first half, but Oberto did not score again and Duncan had only five more points in the second half.
Tracy McGrady had a season-high 44 points as the Houston Rockets defeated the Utah Jazz 100-86 for their fifth consecutive victory. Kevin Garnett's shot at the buzzer gave the Minnesota Timberwolves a 104-102 overtime victory over Philadelphia.
The Phoenix Suns beat Miami Heat 108-80 behind Steve Nash's 22 points and 20 from Amare Stoudemire. The New Jersey Nets rallied to beatChicago Bulls 91-86.The Atlanta Hawks lost their eight consecutive game, going down 105-94 to Toronto Raptors.
