Everyone wants a glimpse of MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Singh Rawat, but the cricketer has managed to evade all and sundry. The skipper was on a tour of Delhi on his way to Ranchi and like his low-profile wedding in Dehradun, kept his visit to the national capital under wraps.

Dhoni reached Delhi on Monday night and stayed at a cricketer-friend’s place at Vasant Kunj. The cricketer and his wife, who works in the hotel industry,  met Rahul Gandhi, a cricket lover, at 10 Janpath on Tuesday morning.

Dhoni’s meeting with Gandhi was reportedly fixed by team-mate RP Singh, who has helped the Congress general secretary organise cricket tournaments in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

Singh hails from Rae Bareli, a constituency represented by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son.

The captain chose not to stay in a hotel in Delhi to avoid being chased by the media. Reporters were kept at bay during his engagement and wedding ceremonies as well. It is believed Dhoni discouraged the use of video cameras at his wedding and the cameraman hired by Rawat’s parents was asked to limit the footage. Those present at the wedding were also instructed not to leak photographs and video clippings of the function.

Though it is reported that astrological considerations led to the advancement of Dhoni’s wedding, sources said it was always on the cards. The various theories circulated among the masses was an effective way of creating an impression that there would be some months gap between his engagement and marriage.
Dhoni will head for a short visit to Kolkata before going to Ranchi.
