David Beckham is all set to return to Spanish giant AC Milan as he bids to play the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The England midfielder has agreed a six-month loan deal from LA Galaxy and could be back in Serie A action on January 6.

"I need to give myself the best chance possible to make the World Cup squad and playing for Milan will help me do that," Beckham said.

He spent six months at the San Siro last season and said: "I enjoyed my time at Milan and look forward to meeting the players and staff again."

"We are certain that this time in Europe will help the player take part in the next World Cup and continue his career with LA Galaxy," The Sun quoted Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, as saying.

Beckham is set to join Milan on December 28 and return to his club in America in July.

Galaxy boss Bruce Arena said: "We are pleased to finalise David's loan and look forward to his return after the World Cup."

"I'm focused on ending this season on a high by winning the MLS Cup. We showed character and must stay positive," Beckham said.
