Marred by controversies, the Delhi Commonwealth Games (CWG) has already created history with an unprecedented record medal haul for the country.

Besides breaking into the top three in the overall medal tally, Indian athletes are fighting against England for the overall second spot.

DNA had last month reported that the central government had estimated a record haul of 96-127 medals in the Delhi CWG and Indian sportpersons are going to fulfill that for sure. India has already won over 90 medals.

After a record medal haul and a successful opening ceremony, demand for closing ceremony tickets had started rising and the event is now a ‘full house’ and all tickets have been sold out.

When people logged on to the ticket website of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, a message said: “All sales for the CWG Delhi 2010 events have now been closed.

All events including the closing ceremony have been sold out.”
A senior OC official told DNA, “The Rs750 tickets were finished more than a week ago followed by ending of Rs4,000 category tickets. The Rs20,000 and Rs50,000 category tickets finished on Tuesday night.”

The closing ceremony would take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday evening. While the opening ceremony showcased India’s rich cultural heritage, the closing ceremony promises to be a ‘big party’ for everyone. It will also showcase India’s martial arts.
