Dashing all-rounder Stuart Binny’s stellar performance in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) has landed him a contract with Indian Premier League (IPL) side Mumbai Indians.

Son of former India all-rounder Roger, Stuart confirmed the development to DNA. “Yes, I have been signed by the Mumbai Indians,” Stuart said, adding that he has been hired for one year.

That means the 25-year-old will be part of IPL III. “I am really looking forward to this opportunity,’’ the right-hander said. He, however, didn’t disclose the signing amount. Stuart is currently playing for Bijapur Bulls in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) and is hoping to regain his place in the Karnataka Ranji side.

For the record, Stuart had a decent stint in the ICL withover 700 runs in 31 T20 games at a commendable average of 27 and a strike-rate of 141. In addition, his right-arm medium pace also fetched 17 wickets. When contacted, an MI official said he didn’t want to comment.
