Mumbai: A tripartite meeting between the Board of Control for Cricket in India, International Cricket Council and the World Anti-Doping Agency was held in Dubai on Wednesday. It was called by the ICC to hammer out a solution to the contentious 'whereabouts' clause in the anti-doping code.
It was not immediately known what decision was arrived at but highly-placed sources say that the issue may be referred to the chief executives' committee of the ICC.
The CEC meeting will be held on November 30 and December 1 in Dubai and a final decision could be expected then.
From the Indian side, the meeting was attended by BCCI president Shashank Manohar and secretary N Srinivasan. Chief Administrative Officer Prof Ratnakar Shetty was also in Dubai.
From the ICC's side, only CEO Haroon Lorgat's presence could be confirmed.ICC president David Morgan was, however, not present. David Hawman, WADA director general, represented the anti-doping agency.
When contacted, an ICC spokesman refused to comment but an official said it was "positive" and "work in progress".
The Indians are believed to have stuck to their stated position that the clause is a breach of the Constitutional rights of the Indian citizens.
The 'whereabouts' clause of the ICC's anti-doping code has been under suspension after Indian players refused to sign it citing security concerns over the clause. The BCCI officials upheld their position. None of the Indian board officials present at the meeting could be reached for a comment.
