Going by what was on show on Tuesday in the IFCI 76th Senior National Badminton Championships here, the title clashes should be mouth-watering indeed. Petroleum Sports Promotion Board players Sourabh Verma, the top seed, and B Sai Praneeth, the second seed, will clash for the men’s singles crown on Wednesday.
In the semifinals, Verma defeated team-mate HS Prannoy 21-23 22-20 21-16 and Praneeth quelled the challenge of Air India’s Anand Pawar by a 21-17 21-15 margin.
The women’s singles title will be contested by Airports’ Authority of India’s second-seeded player Neha Pandit and PSPB’s PV Sindhu. In the last four stage, Sindhu, the ninth seed, disposed off defending champion Aditi Mutatkar 21-10 21-12, while Neha defeated AI’s Sayali Gokhale 21-17 21-13.
