Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fears striker Eduardo could be asked to leave the club this summer, as he has failed to make an impact after recovering from an ankle break suffered in February 2008.

"He is very important, but I will assess it and sit down with him before the end of the season to see how he feels," Wenger said.

"He is 27 and wants to play but we extended his contract because we believe in him. In the last month he looked sharp in training," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"It was the first full season after his injury and next season should be better for him," Wenger said.

Wenger still does not know if centre-back duo William Gallas and Sol Campbell will stay at the Emirates.

"I still have to assess their situations. There is a cut-off point for Gallas - and Mikael Silvestre is also out of contract," Wenger said.
