The Ahmedabad police are gearing up for the IPL T20 cricket matches in the city. No they aren't gearing up to cheer for their favourite team but instead are ensuring foolproof security for the matches to be held here.
The police have started rehearsals for the security measures near the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium in Motera. The police also conducted rehearsals for the security measures to be adopted for the security of the players.
"We have conducted rehearsal at the Motera Stadium in which officials involved in the police bandobast took their respective positions," assistant commissioner of police, 'L' division, BK Ayar told DNA.Ayar also said that many police officials from the city police have been used to ensure the security of the event.
Another source said that so far paramilitary forces have not been called for the same. The source also said that the city police force is being used effectively to manage the security measures.Cops at the Satellite police station also conducted a rehearsal for the players of an IPL team living in a hotel in the area. "We properly managed the entire security and will not let any untoward incident happen in the area," a cop said.
A senior cop of the police department told DNA that the city police is well equipped to manage the security measures.
