Morning morning was a great day for Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh as his hard work had paid off when he was selected in the 15 man ODI squad to play Australia later in the month.
The 31-year-old cancer survivor has been out of the Indian team for the last eight months but for the past month has been trying his best to get back to the team. The all-rounder has slammed 123, 40 and 61 against West Indies A, and 84 against India Red during the Challenger Trophy final.
While India has won the ICC Champions Trophy and the tri-series in the West Indies without the star, the selectors chose Yuvraj over Dinesh Karthik after being convinced by his form and fitness.
Veteran players Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir failed to make the team captained by MS Dhoni with Virat Kohli as vice-captain.
Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammed Shami and Jaydev Unadkat are the other players in the team.
Yuvraj Singh tweeted his joy,
Thanks everyone for your Constant love support ! Look forward to represent my country yet once again!— yuvraj singh (@YUVSTRONG12) September 30, 2013
The cricketer is clearly raring to go and will be seen in action in the one T20 and three of the seven ODIs slated for October 10 onwards.
