Yuvraj Singh picked, Manish Pandey ignored as BCCI selects Indian squad for World T20

Yuvraj Singh made a triumphant return to the Indian team, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected the 15-man Indian squad for the World Twenty20 and the preceding Asia Cup on Friday.

However, Manish Pandey, India's hero of the 5th ODI against Australia last month, has been ignored by the selectors.

Ajinkya Rahane, who was said to be in contention for the seventh specialist batsman along with Pandey, has got the nod instead.

India's Asia Cup T20 and ICC World Twenty20 squads are identical, and will be led by MS Dhoni.

Youngster Jasprit Bumrah has earned a place in the side for his good performances during the Australia series, while Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan also been included in the side.

Chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil said the BCCI had chosen the team keeping in mind the necessities of the Twenty20 format.

The first ever Asia Cup in its Twenty-20 format is starting from 24th of this month in Bangladesh while the World Cup T20 will be played in India from March 8 to April 3, 2016.

Earlier, Indian skipper MS Dhoni had said after the end of Australia series that the core of team is more or less set and there could only be minor changes in the squad.

India (team): MS Dhoni (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra, Pawan Negi, Mohammad Shami.
