Yuvraj Singh, who last played for India in the ICC World T20 2014 final against Sri Lanka, has admitted for the first time that his career in international cricket might be over. But the star all-rounder, who was also the Player of the Tournament in the ICC World Cup 2011 says that he hasn’t lost hope and might return one day to the international circuit.

Yuvraj told Wisden India, “Of course, there is a possibility that I may never play for India again. I have considered that. But there is also the possibility that I might play for India again, and as long as I believe that I can come back and I have it in me, I’m going to keep pushing myself.”

“There will be anxiety because the World Cup is close by and there aren’t too many opportunities in domestic games in the lead up. But, eventually, what can you do? I can only prepare as well as possible, try and take the opportunities I get. The young guys in the Indian team are doing well. Let’s see how it goes,” he added.

Being out of the side has been hard on Yuvraj. The last couple of years the star-allrounder has seen lots of ups and downs. Matters of selection he had no hand over he advanced. He hoped that things would pick up and that he would it his all.

“There have been times when I have achieved my goals. And at other times I have failed. But, after an experience like the one I had, it’s very difficult to set goals. But, definitely, a comeback to the Indian team is a goal. Whether that is going to happen or not is not in my hands. All I can do is prepare well, to the best of my potential, go out there and bat, bowl and field,” he said.
