Out-of-favour England batsman Ravi Bopara has expressed his disappointment after being excluded from the national squad for next month's World Twenty20 in India, saying that he has been playing well in the shortest format of the game and, therefore, deserved to be selected.

Bopara, who is currently the leading run-scorer and second highest wicket-taker in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), however, admitted that he needed to keep working on his performance in order to gain selectors' attention.

Despite his omission from the upcoming T20 pinnacle event, the 30-year-old believes that he still have a chance to represent his country in the coming future, PakPassion.net reported.

Bopara insisted that he had performed quite well for England in T20 cricket and that he hopes the selectors would soon include him in the team.

Bopara made 171 appearances for England, where he scored a total of 3981 runs and bagged 57 wickets.

The World T20 is slated to be held between March 8 to April 13, with England playing their opening match against West Indies on March 16.
