England fast bowler Chris Woakes has expressed that he is eager to carry on taking the new-ball role in the upcoming World Cup, which starts on Saturday.

Woakes' five-wicket haul against West Indies helped England to win their first warm-up game by nine wickets, with 163 balls remaining on Monday.

Reflecting on his performance, Woakes said that he would be more than happy to continue the role, adding that it was nice to have the responsibility and would try and do his best for England in whatever role he would be given, the BBC reported.

Woakes added that it was good to see the back of Chris Gayle early, but winning inside 25 overs was a great achievement.

England will open their World Cup campaign against Australia on February 14 in Melbourne.
