Former Pakistan pace spearhead Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Misbah-ul-Haq, describing the skipper as coward and selfish after his side endured a 150-run humiliating defeat against the West Indies in the World Cup Pool B tie in Christchurch. Akhtar, who is known as the Rawalpindi Express, said that he had not seen a more coward and selfish captain than Misbah, Sport24 reported.

Reflecting on skipper Misbah's leadership skills, Akhtar said that he was not willing to bat up the order to protect the other players at a time when he needs to show inspiration. Akhtar further said that Misbah was happy with his own runs and he didn't know what coach Waqar Younis wanted, adding that he had no game plan or direction for the team.

Pakistan suffered their second consecutive loss of the tournament after Misbah's men were thrashed by defending champions India in their opening game. The match also saw Pakistan setting a new record for the worst start to a one-day international innings as they were reeling at 1-4 in the fourth over.
