Cornered Tigers?

Of course not, as this Pakistani team is not worthy of that sobriquet, post their six-wicket quarter-final defeat to Australia on Friday, which has left them searching for answers post a mixed World Cup campaign.

There are at least four instances when Pakistan were guilty of handing over the game to Australia on a platter, when all they had to do was maintain calm and try and put the lid on the Aussies.

Here are four players who gift wrapped the game and also possibly the World Cup title to Michael Clarke's team.

'Flinched'

First in the list is skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, who despite a sedate 34, paid the price by going for an overambitious hoick off Glenn Maxwell, which was duly lapped up by Aaron Finch at deep-mid wicket.

That put an end to his 73-run stand with Haris Sohail, which nipped Pakistan's resurrection hopes right in the bud.

Next up was Umar Akmal, who became the second victim to Finch's ever reliable catching, as he became the other fish in Australia's wide fielding net, and perished exactly the same way as his skipper (off Maxwell again).

And of course Shahid Afridi (in typical style!) allowed impatience to get the better of him, and became Finch's third victim at the same position, this time off Josh Hazlewood.

Three wickets to the same fielder at the same position.

Game Over Pakistan!

Watson and Australia get much needed 'Rahat'

With Wahab unleashing a horde of thunderbolts on Watson, the score read 83 for 3, and with the latter having no clue in handling a sudden bowling master-class, Pakistan looked all set to storm back into the contest.

But Watson successfully weathered Wahab's storm, and made Rahat Ali pay for dropping a sitter near third-man, as he went on to score an unbeaten 64, which ultimately swung the game back in Australia's favour.

With Watson later punching the winning runs of Sohail Khan later on, Pakistan had indeed 'four'cefully thrown the game into Australia's lap!
