Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has conceded that Misbah-ul-Haq's men were on course to secure a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals.

The Men in Green revived their World Cup campaign after registering three successive win in the ongoing tournament, including one against tournament favourites South Africa, despite losing their first two matches against India and the West Indies.

Reflecting on the team's progress at the World Cup, Shaharyar said that if they could beat the team like South Africa, 'they could beat anyone', the Dawn reported.

Admitting that the team received 'severe backlash' during the initial phase of the tournament, Shaharyar said that 'things have changed after they started winning'. Pakistan will next face Ireland in their final Pool B tie on 15th March in Adelaide.
