As Australia and New Zealand gear up to lock horns in the grand finale at the MCG on Sunday, one can't help but ponder on what an amazing tournament it has been so far.

From Chris Gayle's epic double-hundred against Zimbabwe to India having a dream run to the semi-finals, the World Cup had it all.

And who can forget New Zealand's heroics, highlights of which were Martin Guptill's scintillating double-ton against the West Indies and of course that historic six off Grant Elliot's willow which left South Africa heart-broken.

So as the big day nears on Sunday,  here are some amazing trivia which round off the World Cup in whole.

 

1) 417 - was what Australia racked up against Afghanistan at Perth, which is the highest team total in the tournament so far.

2) 275 - is the biggest victory margin achieved (in terms of runs) by Australia against Afghanistan.

3) 541 - runs is what Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara scored, the tournament's highest. He can be surpassed by New Zealand's Martin Guptill (532 runs), come the final at MCG.

4) 4 - is the number of back-to-back hundreds Sangakkara racked up, which remains a World Cup record.

5) 3 - ducks is what UAE's Krishna Chandran has to his tally, the most by any batsman.

6) 16 - is how many sixes Gayle scored against Zimbabwe, the highest in a single game.

7) 21- New Zealand's Trent Boult leads the bowling charts with that many wickets, though he can be upstaged by Australia's Mitchell Starc, who has 20 to his credit.

8) 15 -  is the amount of dismissals MS Dhoni executed throughout, the most by a wicket-keeper in the tournament.

9) 9 - catches South Africa's Rilee Rossouw has held on to, making him the most successful fielder.

10) 372 - is the highest run-partnership in the World Cup so far, which Gayle and Marlon Samuels achieved during their destruction of Zimbabwe at Canberra.
