A Dhoni classic finds Ross Taylor short of his crease.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni had wowed Ross Taylor and co. on Monday by driving way with his big fat Hummer from the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi and two days later the same Kiwi batsman was surprised to see himself run out by an out of the box Mahi effort.

Dhoni, who has redefined wicket-keeping with his unorthodox tactics, was at it again by running out Taylor from an improbable angle during the fourth ODI. The incident took place in the 46th over bowled by Umesh Yadav. Taylor swatted a delivery on his pads, to the deep fine leg fence and turned back for a couple, in the meantime Dhawal Kulkarni picked up the ball and threw it right back to Dhoni but it was at his chest height and far away from the stumps. Not flinched by the occasion, MSD collected the ball and within micro seconds threw it on to the stumps without looking at those. Had Dhoni gone for the usual 'collect and smash the stumps' action, Taylor would have made it to the crease with ease but this unique and untutored skill found the Kiwi short by a few inches.

As soon as the giant screen showed the replays, Dhoni had a wry smile on his face while his deputy Virat Kohli enjoyed the skipper's trickery and patted him on the back. On the other hand, Taylor was taken aback and bemused to see himself going back to the pavilion as in no stretch of imagination had he ever assumed that he would get out from that angle.
