Real Madrid equalled a Spanish record (held by Barcelona) of 39 games unbeaten in all competitions which is by crushing struggling Granada 5-0 on Saturday to go six points clear at the top of La Liga.
But before the Spanish giants ran riot at the Santiago Bernabeu, there was a small ceremony conducted in honour of Madrid's talismanic striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who was recently awarded his fourth Ballon d'Or trophy.
The ceremony was attended by former Galacticos Michael Owen, Luis Figo, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima (Brazil), current head coach Zinedine Zidane and former French footballer Raymond Kopa. With his previous three trophies displayed neatly for everyone to see, Ronaldo was presented his latest prized possession by former Madrid player Francisco "Paco" Gento amid thunderous applause. The Portuguese superstar then flaunted his trophy to the Madrid faithful as his team-mates and all those in attendance cheered along.
