Mumbai teams IndianOil and BPCL tasted defeats on the opening day of the All India PSU tournament hosted by Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers in Mumbai on Monday. Despite Wasim Jaffer's 54, IndianOil went down to State Bank of Hyderabad by seven wickets whereas BPCL could not chase down BSNL's fighting 155/9 to go down by 12 runs. Promising wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored 76 for BPCL.

The tournament was earlier inaugurated by cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, who recalled having played two Ranji Trophy matches for Mumbai in 1986 and 1995 at this very venue.

"I have very fond memories of that match (1986 vs Baroda). There was a big crowd and everything was so well organised. Moreover, we had legends like Gavaskar, Vengsarkar, Gaekwad and others playing that match," Manjrekar said.

It was in that match that Manjrekar, who went on to play 37 Tests, scored his maiden first-class century in his 11th appearance. He went on to score 30 more first-class centuries in his career.
