When a young Karun Nair, unbeaten on 71, went in to bat on Day 4 of the fifth Test against England, no one would have imagined that he would recreate Virender Sehwag's rare achievement on the very same ground after eight long years.

Yes, it was this very Chepauk wicket where the Nawab of Najafgarh had scored 319 off 304 balls against South Africa on March 26, 2008. And now after the Karnataka lad joined Sehwag as the only other Indian to score a triple century, the former opening batsman couldn't hold back his emotions.

"Yay ! Welcome to the 300 club @karun126 . It was very lonely here for the last 12 years 8 months. Wish you the very best Karun.Maza aa gaya!" Viru tweeted, whose first triple ton had come in the year 2004 against Pakistan in Multan.

It can be noted that Nair also became the first Indian to convert a maiden hundred into a triple century. Gary Sobers and Bob Simpson are the only other international cricketers to achieve this feat. With so much of international cricket ahead of him, we can expect much more from this batting sensation.
