Off-late, Virender Sehwag's words have generated great curiosity. Be it with his outlandish Tweets, or his bold cricket commentary, the former Indian captain is carrying forward his legacy of playing on the front foot well past his retirement.

On one such instance of saying things that most people wouldn't, Sehwag revealed how current captain of the Indian ODI team Mahendra Singh Dhoni played a pivotal role in guiding Test captain Virat Kohli's career in the right direction.

While doing commentary during the on-going India-England Test at Mohali, Sehwag spoke about how Kohli made his way into the Indian team for the third Test at Perth in 2012, during India’s tour of Australia.

"The selectors wanted to play Rohit Sharma instead of Kohli at Perth in 2012," said Sehwag. “I was vice-captain and Dhoni was leading the team, and we decided that we have to back Kohli. The rest is history."

Kohli went on to score 75 and 44 in that Test at Perth, before registering his maiden Test ton in the following game at Adelaide. And the rest, as Sehwag rightly stated, is history.
