Virat Kohli on Thursday clarified his statements after the last Test against Australia where he said that he no longer considers the Aussie players as his friends. At the end of the Dharamshala Test Kohli had replied in the negative when he was asked if he stamds by his earlier comment that he considers the Aussie players to be his friends off the field.

“No, it has changed. I thought that was the case, but it has changed for sure. As I said, in the heat of the battle you want to be competitive but I’ve been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, that has certainly changed and you won’t hear me say that ever again," Kohli had said.

The Indian captain copped a lot of criticism for his stance. Former Australian cricketers have had a field time since then, ridiculing Kohli for being a 'child'. Mark Taylor, for instance, even went ahead and said that he expected India's star batsman to be a 'bigger man'.

Kohli took to social media on Thursday morning to explain what he really meant while talking about his equation with the Australian players.

"My answer at the post match conference has been blown way out of proportion. I did not categorically say the whole Australian team but only a couple of individuals," wrote Kohli. "I continue to be in good terms with the few guys I know & who I've played with at RCB & that doesn't change."

Here's his tweet:

Kohli has been in the line of fire of the Australians since a long time now. From pitting him with animals in a poll, to comparing him to Donald Trump, to saying he can't spell the word sorry, to calling him a flog, the Australians have stooped to unimaginable levels to insult the Indian skipper.

Kohli's clarification on Thursday compels one to believe that it's only in light of the Indian Premier League, which starts on April 5. With players from all over the world involved in the cash-rich tournament in various capacities, it bodes well for Kohli to start on a positive note.
