Manchester City midfielder talisman Yaya Toure has become the first player to win African Footballer of the Year consecutively for a record fourth time.

The Ivorian brushed aside challenge of Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to win the coveted title of the continent.

Toure, who scored 20 goals in City's title-winning campaign, has also helped his country to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, the BBC reported.

Everton striker Samuel Eto'o is the only other player to win the African Footballer of the Year award four times but he didn't win it in successive years.
