Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova kicked off their US Open women's doubles campaign with a thumping win in the opening round at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The seventh-seeded Indo-Czech defeated unseeded American duo of Jada Myii Hart and Ena Shibahara 6-3, 6-2 in a contest that lasted one hour and nine minutes at Court 4. Mirza had lifted the US Open women?s doubles title with Martina Hingis last year, but the pair decided to go their separate ways last month due to the failure to achieve their desired results.

Mirza soon rediscovered her winning touch after joining forces with Strycova as the pair went on to win the Cincinnati Masters last month.
