New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum smashed the fastest Test century on Saturday, in his very last Test. He hit 100 off 54 balls and ended with 145 off 79 as New Zealand scored 370 in their first innings against Australia.
Social media sang praises of McCullum immediately after the event. Here is how Twitter responded to the record-breaking feat:
Sachin Tendulkar is the God of Cricket but McCullum is no less, apparently.

Andy brings the discussion down to earth, but McCullum is a limited overs legend.
Brendon McCullum averages high 30's over 100 Tests. #legend? Not sure about that... #NZvAUS

Pranay Sawant kills two birds with a single stone.
I wish brendon Mccullum was like Afridi; Afridi has came back 95 times after retiring, MCculllum should come back for at least once.#NZvAUS

What a player!
His last test was his fas test.
Harsha Bhogle to state the obvious in a tribute, to end this.
Wow, that's some way to say good-bye! "I think I'll help myself to a 54 ball century"!! #BrendonMcCullum. Playing his best cricket!

McCullum retires, probably too soon for anyone's liking, with an array of memories that will rarely be forgotten.
Regardless of whether New Zealand can win this Test match, McCullum's legacy as a dashing, fearless batsman and an inspirational captain who took New Zealand to their first World Cup final, will remain etched forever in history.
