Top three goals nominated for 2014 FIFA Puskas award

FIFA has announced the final three nominees who are in running to win the Ferenc Puskas award for best goal of 2014.

The three contendors are Netherlands' Robin Van Persie, Colombia's James Rodriguez and female Irish footballer, Stephanie Roche for their superlative efforts.

Though Van Persie is favourite to win the award, thanks to his flying header against Spain in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Rodriguez conjured up an equally stunning effort, a superb volley against Uruguay in the same tournament.

Roche's beautiful goal for Peamount United against Wexford Youth has enabled her to become the first ever female player to make the list.
