It’s a well-known saying that practice makes one perfect. And 14-year-old Om Jadhav found out that practising with his father makes it even better.

The student of IES VN Sule Guruji (Matunga) scored an unbeaten 155 in 164 balls, including 21 boundaries, against IES Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya (Matunga) in the Elite division semifinals of the MSSA Harris Shield played at Shivaji Park, Dadar on Wednesday.

On Monday, Om had a two-hour practice session with his father at a ground in Dombivali (E) close to where Jadhav stays.

“Yesterday’s practice session isn’t the reason for Om’s brilliant knock. It was two hours well spent yesterday and he made sure that counted today.” says Kiran Jadhav, father of the 10th standard lad.

The left hander came in to bat when his side were 71/2, his side ended the first day’s play at 327 for the loss of six wickets with his team applauding him when he made his way to the pavilion.

“Due to wickets falling at regular intervals, I had to make sure I settle in quickly and not lose concentration,” said Jadhav.

Brief Scores: IES VN Sule (Matunga) 327/6 (O Jadhav 155) vs IES Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya (Matunga)
