Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle who was earlier not included in IPL 9's commentary panel again found himself in the midst of another controversy when he tweeted about Mahendra Singh Dhoni's insipid batting against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday. However, the experienced commentator stuck to his words and rightly defended himself when twitterati reacted aggressively to his post.

Dhoni scored 41 off 38 balls, hitting three boundaries, but he was unable to take his team over the line as they fell short by 13 runs in the end. He took some time to get settled and then when he finally decided to accelerate, all he managed was to offer a considerably easy catch to AB de Villiers at the fence off Harshal Patel's bowling. Reacting to this knock, Bhogle tweeted, "180+ run chase. 41 (38) can't win it for you. Some days it might come off but most days it won't from there."

Some of the twitter users were not too kind on Bhogle for his observation about the Indian captain's innings. Crick Fan replied to the tweet saying, "Neither will 20 (10) at 18 for 3*". Bhogle maintained his stance and answered back, "Fair enough. Thought the take off point might have been earlier. But just my point of view, he's been the master at it."

Another user Vikash Chaturvedi went a step ahead and directly blamed Bhogle asking him not to take revenge on Dhoni, "@bhogleharsha sir .dont take revenge @msdhoni is great player. Apko shobha nhi deta," he said. The widely acknowledged commentator was stunned to see such a comment and replied, ".@vikashccc Are you guys nuts? Was an observation based on numbers. This is becoming a negative world!!"

Also Bhogle was not happy with the reports of quite a few news Websites.

Incidentally during the World T20, there was a debate on Twitter when actor Amitabh Bachchan criticised Indian commentators for not talking highly about the Indian team. “With all due respect, it would be really worthy of an Indian commentator to speak more about our players than others all the time,” he had tweeted. Many thought that this tweet was directed towards Bhogle. Also Dhoni was quick to retweet this with the words, "Nothing to add." This added fuel to fire.

It was also reported that displeasure amongst the Indian players regarding Bhogle's commentary during World T20, might have resulted in his ouster from IPL. While there was speculation over the reason for his unceremonious axe, Bhogle himself remained clueless. "I still don't know why I am not doing the IPL. I haven't been told. I can accept the fact that people don't like me. But I genuinely hope it isn't because cricketers have complained about what I have to say," Bhogle had earlier posted on Facebook.
