President of the Punjab Cricket Association - the state unit that nominated Sharad Pawar for president last year. Bindra, the man who has made Mohali a success story as a venue for international cricket, was once a chief rival of Dalmiya during the mid-1990s.

PM Rungta (Rajasthan)

BCCI vice-president between 1963-64 to 1970-71
BCCI president from 1972-73 to 1974-75
Along with son K M Rungta, has held power in Rajasthan for over 30 years, their reign ending in February 2005.
In the BCCI, has been a looming presence even when out of efective power.

MCA president since 2001.
Was a surprise addition to cricket administration when he became
MCA president. Lost the BCCI presidentship to Mahendra last year in a humdinger. Has since kept his cards close to his chest. Still the only man the Dalmiya camp fears.
A C Muthiah (Tamil Nadu)
BCCI president from 1999-00 to 2000-01
Chennai based industrialist, he became president in September 1999. His father M A Chidambram served the BCCI for over four decades, including a term as president (1960-63). After 2 years in the hot seat, Muthiah lost the presidentship which he has been trying to regain since.
Jagmohan Dalmiya (Bengal)
Age: 65
BCCI secretary in 1990-91, and from 1993-94 to 1996-97
ACC secretary: 1993 to 1996
ICC president: 1997 to 2000
BCCI president : 2001 to 2004
Considered a master strategist, has established a stranglehold over the Board which all his opponents are trying to break.
