London: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is absolutely 'devastated' after his side failed to win the Premier League title and end their 24-year long league title wait.

Gerrard said that he is absolutely devastated, adding that he is personally gutted and gutted for the club's fans because they have been magnificent in supporting Liverpool.

However, the skipper said that the Liverpool squad cannot be too down because it has been a fantastic season for them and they need to bounce back for the next year and try and become better, Sky News reported.

The midfielder also added that it took him to reach the age of 33 to get the experience of a proper title race, so the experience for Liverpool's young squad is going to be vital and added that there is a lot of ability in the squad.

Gerrard said that the team is growing and moving forward and hopefully they could keep improving it.

Liverpool finished runners up in the Premier League title race after beating Newcastle United 2-1 while Manchester City topped the league with their 2-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday, the report added.
