Taj Commonwealth Express, a special train for players and delegates wishing to visit Taj Mahal, conducted its maiden trip today.

The train modelled on the lines of railway's flagship Shatabdi express comprises executive chair car and AC chair cars. It left Delhi Safdarjung station for Agra Cantonment this morning.

The special train, part of the Railways commitment to the CWG Organising Committee, will undertake eight trips between now and October 16.

The train will ferry coaches, officials and dignitaries associated with the Commonwealth Games on its to and fro service between Delhi and Agra.

The Taj Commonwealth Express train will depart from Delhi Safdurjang station at 08.00 am to reach Agra Cantt at 10.35 am. On its return leg, the train will start from Agra Cantt at 5.30 pm to reach Delhi Safdarjung station at 7.40 pm.

Railways, a lead partner of the CWG, had also run a Commonwealth Express train across the country showcasing the various aspects of the sporting extravaganza as well as development in the IT sector.
