South Africa captain AB de Villiers is of the opinion that his team does have a little bit of an edge over Australia despite being wary of a backlash following their recent win in Zimbabwe.

South Africa emphatically beat Australia by six wickets in a tri-series final in Harare last month and now head Down Under for limited overs series against New Zealand and Australia. They will play three ODIs against New Zealand as well as three T20s and five ODIs against Australia.

De Villiers feels that South Africa could definitely win the five-match series in Australia next month, especially since they beat them two out of three times on neutral ground in Zimbabwe, Sport24 reported.

De Villiers said that they can definitely win the series, adding that they showed that now against them, and he believes his side has got a bit of an edge over the Australians.

The skipper said that he is not going to make any silly statements but they played the better cricket in Zimbabwe, and that's why they beat Australia so they would try and stick to the same kind of basics, respecting the fact that they are away from home and are playing a team with really good momentum and confidence at the moment.

De Villiers nevertheless expects a highly motivated Australian team to pitch when the two sides square-off. He said that he thinks the Australians are very hungry, especially against South Africa after they have beaten the hosts now in Zimbabwe.

De Villiers also believes that Australia would want to give them a little bit of payback and that would be a great challenge first of all.
