A South African bakery has reportedly offered an apology for producing a line of cookies decorated with images of Oscar Pistorius and 'bad-taste' messages relating to the upcoming trial of the Paralympian, who is charged with murder in his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp's shooting death.

Charly's Bakery posted on Twitter photos of cookies decorated with images of Pistorius and messages such as 'And the Oscar goes to ... jail' and one of a toilet door and a sign reading 'caution using toilet please don't shoot!'.

CBS News reports that another cookie had an image of the double-amputee in front of the logo of his former sponsor, Nike, and the words 'Just do it. He did it', adding that the bakery initially posted the photo accompanied by the message: 'Not sure if these are in good taste, but they sure taste good.'

Following widespread outrage, the bakery deleted the images from their social media page and tweeted their apology, saying that they own up their mistake and are 'hanging their collective heads in shame' as they 'seriously got it wrong with the cookies'.

The bakery also apologised to Steenkamp's family, the report added.
