South Africa captain Hashim Amla believes that his team has been 'well equipped' to continue winning matches as they go through a 'transition' period.

Speaking on eve of the first Test against the West Indies at SuperSport Park, South Africa's first home Test since the retirement of star players, Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith, Amla said that there was 'enough experience' in the team to enable new players to settle into their roles.

Amla claimed that it has been 'very exciting', adding that a transition period was inevitable on Kallis and Smith's retirements, Sport24 reported. Fortunately, he added that there are 'quite a few of them' who have played international cricket for 'quite a long time', to keep the 'core of the team together' and for the 'culture of the team to continue'.

He claimed that the young players who have come in would have to take the team forward and added they gain as much knowledge and experience as possible. The skipper said that one wants to make the transition 'as natural as possible' but added that there's an 'element of hard work' in every relationship.

Amla concluded by saying the most important factor is to 'continue winning cricket matches'.
