Sourav Ganguly set to become Team India's high performance manager

According to media reports, the BCCI has started negotiations with Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly for important roles in Indian cricket. Sourav Ganguly is reportedly set to become Team India's high performance manager, as a first step towards achieving this goal. 

Ganguly's role will be on the lines of that offered by Cricket Australia. He is understood to have been told to prepare a blueprint on how the Indian team can perform better abroad. Ganguly has given his assent to the role, according to reports.

The board wants Sachin Tendulkar to help upgrade the National Cricket Academy from a rehabilitation center to a world-class training and research facility. He is also expected to work with out-of-form cricketers, to help them overcome technical deficiencies and make comebacks.

Rahul Dravid is being looked at as the Talent Development Manager, based in Bangalore. His role would be to work closely with the Under-19 team and identify talent for the national team, while also working with the NCA.

According to BCCI sources, Ganguly has already given his nod. Tendulkar has agreed in principle but wants to know more about his role. Dravid will only confirm his involvement after the IPL, once he learns more about the job.

The big question now is, what happens to current team director Ravi Shastri? Many in the BCCI under Dalmiya are not in favour of him continuing with the Indian team. Though he will make the Bangladesh tour, his future hangs in the balance.
