He thanked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and it's chairman Shahryar Khan who had bestowed  on  him the honour of leading the national side. "I would also like to inform that InshaAllah I intend to continue playing the game for my country and league cricket etc., and request my fans to keep praying and supporting me as long as I play for Pakistan or for any other league team all over the world," said Afridi in a press release.

Incidentally, the talismanic cricketer was under severe pressure to call it quits after Pakistan made an early exit form World T20 and lost the prestigious encounter against their arch rivals India. But the cricketer who debuted in 1996 will still be seen in the international arena, thanks to his passion for the game
