Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott has slammed his country's cricket squad for their early elimination from the World Cup, stating that the team was reluctant to take advice from former players.

England suffered a 15-run defeat to a spirited Bangladesh on Monday in a match they had to win to stay in the tournament.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Boycott said that they didn't accept criticism, admitting that several former players like Ian Botham, Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton and Michael Vaughan could have given England advice, Sport24 reported.

Drawing a comparison to Michael Clarke's men, Boycott further said that Australian team were different as they always talk to former players like Shane Warne and yet he works in the media all the time.

Boycott said that they think one should be praising them all the time, pointing out angrily that how the hell does one praise performances against Sri Lanka, or how they got battered against New Zealand, and smashed against Australia.

Boycott insisted that they want to praise England but they have to give the public and people in the media something to shout about.
