During the hearing on Thursday on the recommendations suggested by the Lodha Committee, Supreme Court blasted BCCI asking, "Will you implement the Lodha panel recommendations or not?"

According to ANI, Supreme Court took the same stand they had on September 28 when they had asked the cricket body to 'fall in line'. On Thursday, the court observed, "Either BCCI elects new administrators or Lodha panel gives more time to BCCI to fall in line."

BCCI transferred Rs 400 crore to State Associations on October 1 at their Special General Meeting, defying the Lodha Committee orders. When SC asked about the disbursements saying, "BCCI should have exercised transparency in funding state associations, 400 crores can't be disbursed overnight." BCCI lawyers told the court that the matter dates to 2015-16 when Star and Sony had given compensation for broadcasting rights which was to be given to the State associations.

BCCI also told the apex court that a meeting comprising all the members took place and several of the Lodha Committee recommendations were rejected by the member associations by vote. The cricket body also told SC that the State bodies were not under it.

The Supreme Court told BCCI, "People want money from you (BCCI); You say they don't want to reform; Stop giving funds to such state bodies. Receiving money from BCCI is not the fundamental right of state associations."

Supreme Court also agreed to examine Lodha Committee's plea for superseding BCCI post holders with a panel of administrators. "I think we’re coming to a point where they (BCCI top brass) are asking for their suspension by Supreme Court," said Chief Justice of India TS Thakur, as reported by the Indian Express.

SC is likely to pass an order on Friday, asking BCCI to implement directions of the Lodha committee for reforming the cricket body. It also sought an undertaking from BCCI, saying that it will abide by the Lodha Committee recommendations and not disburse the grant to state bodies. BCCI declined to give such an undertaking.

SC also remarked that BCCI's defiant attitude will not lead anywhere.

The battle of BCCI v/s Lodha Panel started because of the recommendations made by the panel which include one-state-one-vote, age limit of 70 years, cooling-off period of three years which included the tenure of the administrators, continuing with the five selectors and retaining the powers of the president and the secretary as per the earlier constitution of the board.
