Sachin Tendulkar bid adieu to Ranji Trophy cricket by guiding Mumbai to a four-wicket win against Haryana in Lahli on Wednesday. Tendulkar’s gritty knock of 79 not out in the fourth innings ensured that the 40-time Ranji champions were not embarrassed by a spirited Haryana team.
Chasing 240 for victory, Mumbai began the day at 201/6 with Tendulkar and Dhawal Kulkarni at the crease. Tendulkar guided the youngster at every step to ensure that Mumbai reached home without sweat. “It was a challenging wicket and had a lot in it for the bowlers. It was a good outing that I was looking for. Thanks to the Haryana side for putting up such a good show on the field,” Tendulkar said after the win.
After the Haryana players congratulated Tendulkar, the Mumbai team took over. The team’s trainer Amogh Pandit lifted the Little Master and plonked him on his shoulders. Tendulkar acknowledged the cheers from the crowd and thanked them for their support over the years.
