Artificial Intelligence may soon replace psychics in sports, as a robot has predicted an unlikely winner for the Cricket World Cup 2015, and it is cricketing minnows Afghanistan.

Named after the Mexican-Syrian philosopher, University of Canterbury's Nao robot 'Ikram' predicted the winner after viewing the 14 competing countries' flag. Eduardo Sandoval, who developed the robot's prediction software, said that, of course, this was 'very unlikely' but with cricket the outcome could always be 'unexpected', New Zealand Herald reported.

New Zealand will open their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on February 14 in Christchurch.
