Robbert Kemperman snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for Dabang Mumbai as his last-minute goal ensured Mumbai defeated Punjab Warriors 2-1 in the Hockey India League in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Tristan Clemons continued his fine form into this crucial match as he starred in the first quarter for the hosts. The alert Aussie saved two field goals.

The third quarter proved to be lucky for Punjab as they took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute when Mink van der Weerden, who has been in fine form this season, converted a penalty corner by sending a powerful flick to the left top corner of the post.

The fourth quarter saw dramatic action, with Mumbai pushing hard for a goal. Clemons continued to impress against a team that is known to score late goals. The defenders too did well at keeping dangermen Florian Fuchs, Affan Yousuf and Nikkin Thimmaiah in the forward line at bay.

However, a 60th minute goal proved Mumbai’s mettle yet again as Kemperman scored a brilliant field goal to steal the match.

Result: Punjab Warriors 1 (M der Weerden 37-PC) lost to Dabang Mumbai 2 (R Kemperman 60-FG)
