Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar is planning to move court after his name did not feature in the list of probables sent to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

According to a Hindustan Times report, Kumar is contemplating the option of going to court to seek a selection trial, but hopes that the matter is resolved before that.

26-year-old Wrestler Narsingh Yadav is most likely to be going in place of Sushil, who has been demanding a selection trial from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) for a long time now. WFI made it clear on Wednesday that it is not his demand to make and that Sushil never made a formal request to change the tradition of sending the wrestler who wins the quota for the Olympics.

Narsingh secured the country's first Olympic quota in wrestling after winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Last Vegas last year. Sushil shifted from the 66kg to 74kg in 2014 and has demanded a selection for the Rio games since then. "Whoever is better and stronger of us (Sushil and Narsingh Yadav) must be sent to Rio. I am ready for trials. Then only we can determine who is stronger. Our government and federation have spent money on me for the past two years so that I can do something for the country," the 32-year-old said.

Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the decision lies with the federation.
