Olympic fever has gripped Haryana with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday announcing that the monsoon session of the state assembly has been deferred by a week in keeping with the request of its legislators, many of whom wanted to see the state's athletes taking part in the global sporting event.

Now the assembly session will begin on August 26 instead of August 19, Khattar said in Chandigarh.

As some of the legislators have a plan to see the Rio Olympics, it was decided to change the date of the session so as to facilitate them, he told reporters.
