Haryana government announced on Saturday cash awards for shuttler P V Sindhu, gymnast Dipa Karmakar, sprinter Lalita Babar for their splendid performance at Rio Olympic games.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said an official release in Chandigarh. While Sindhu who won silver medal in badminton at Rio, will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, Lalita Babar and Dipa Karmakar will be awarded Rs 15 lakh each.

The coach of wrestler Sakshi Malik, who won bronze medal at Rio, will be given Rs 10 lakh, an official spokesman said. The decision to award these Olympians from outside Haryana would inspire the girls across the country to pursue sports and bring laurels to the nation, the Chief Minister said. 

In keeping with the sports policy of the state government, Sakshi Malik will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 2.50 crore. Under the policy, winner of gold medal from Haryana in Olympics will get Rs 6 crore, silver Rs 4 crore, and bronze Rs 2.50 crore.
